Course:   TEL150c: Wireless LAN Technologies- Applications with Lab Printable version
Description

Part C: Wireless LAN Technologies – Applications with Lab, begins by providing an introduction to wireless security and specific threats/vulnerabilities that can impact the WLAN.  The material will highlight legacy WLAN security mechanisms as well as a comprehensive review of small home office/business and enterprise WLAN security technology that is being employed to protect both the wireless and fixed information resource.  The student will have an opportunity to develop a methodical process for identifying WLAN problems by applying core knowledge they have gleaned about transmitter/receiver operation, WLAN connectivity, throughput and software/hardware upgrades that may have a bearing on a WLAN problem. The student will also be provided information on optimizing WLAN networks in terms of hardware selection and placement of key infrastructure devices to enhance capacity and minimize interference that can have an impact on network utilization and performance. The Part C, “Wireless LAN Technologies - Applications with Lab” discussion culminates with a “Capstone Lab” that offers the student an opportunity to apply core knowledge in a hands on lab environment. The Capstone Lab provides students an opportunity to build an ad hoc, basic service and extended service set wireless network and employ a methodical troubleshooting approach to resolve a WLAN problem.

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:

Part C:
·       Identify security threats, vulnerabilities and how to mitigate them in WLANs
