Applied Professional Training (APT) offers up to three (3) credit hours for  Independent Study and is intended for self-motivated students to pursue distance learning outside of regular course offerings. Independent Study courses are supervised by APT faculty members and generally involve substantial interaction.

1. Student submits APT’s Independent Study course application and a current resume.
2. APT ’s Credit Evaluation Committee (CEC) either approves or denies the application.
3. Upon approval, APT's CEC and Lead Instructor team will assign a faculty adviser.
4. The student and faculty adviser then determine the scope of the project and the means for demonstrating learned outcomes.  The faculty adviser may assign reading material, research, project report, etc. to satisfy the academic requirement.
5. Student must submit weekly progress reports to and attend periodic meetings with the faculty adviser.
6. A log shall be kept by the student and readily available for view by upon request by APT.
7. The student must complete a formal evaluation and receive approval by the Credit Evaluation Committee and Lead Instructor Team upon completion of the independent study before credit will be awarded.

Tuition:   $395 per credit

Requirements:

1. Student must be enrolled in an APT degree program.
2. The work experience must be within the intended scope of student's degree program.
3. Student is required to have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better.
4. Student’s conduct must be professional and responsible during the employment for which Work Experience is being considered.
5. Student must complete a minimum of 45 hours of independent study for each credit.  The course must be completed in 3 months or less.
