Course:     TEL102.4b: Basic Electricity and Electronics- Basic Electronics Printable version
Description
Part B:  In Basic Electronics for Telecommunications – Basic Electronics, students will learn the fundamental principles of Electronics. The course begins with the discussion of semiconductor theory and the description of different types of diodes (i.e.: junction diodes, zener diodes). Then, different types of transistors (i.e.: BJT, JFET, MOSFET) are introduced. Single transistor amplifiers in different configurations and operational amplifiers are also explained. The course concludes with the description of the main building blocks of a power supply (transformer, full-wave rectifier, voltage regulator, capacitive and inductive filters) and the basic principles of troubleshooting electronic devices.

This part of the course includes a preparatory review for the Basic Electronics (BES) entrance exam for AT&T – District 3 employees.

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:
Part B:
·        Discuss the semiconductor theory and the main types of diodes.

·        Describe different types of transistors (BJT, JFET, MOSFET) and their use in
         electronics.

·        Explain single-stage amplifiers, multi-stage amplifiers, and operational
